The following is a map and timeline of the shootings that occurred on Sunday, July 23.

12:20 am - A sniper shoots at two pick-ups on I-65 near Seymour, killing Jerry Ross, 40, of New Albany, and wounding another.

Around 2:20 am - Bullets hit a semi and 100 miles away in Delaware County. No one was injured.

3:30 am - About a mile away from the semi shooting, a fourth shooting was reported. Police don't know exactly what time it happened because the owner of the SUV that was hit had left the car to seek help for mechanical problems.

A 14-mile stretch of I-65 is closed off for eight hours.

The Indiana State Police set up a sniper hot line number: (800) 622-4962 inside the state, and (317) 232-8250 outside Indiana.

Governor Mitch Daniels orders the Indiana National Guard and state Department of Homeland Security to assist the Indiana State Police in any manner needed in the investigation of shootings overnight Saturday on two Indiana interstates. Both agencies currently are on standby if help is needed.

The FBI joins Indianapolis joins Indiana State Police in the sniper investigation.
