Actor Sean AstinIndianapolis (AP) - Actor Sean Astin and film producer Angelo Pizzo visited the Statehouse Monday to lobby for a proposal intended to boost film-making in Indiana.
The bill, which could be debated in the Senate, would give tax breaks to film companies that do work in Indiana. Senator Jeff Drozda, a Republican from Westfield, says the legislation would allow Indiana to compete with other states offering incentives to the film industry.
Astin and Pizzo say Indiana needs more tax incentives to lure movies, TV shows and other film industries to the state. They plan to meet with Governor Mitch Daniels and address the Senate today.
Pizzo wrote and produced the Notre Dame-related football film "Rudy." Astin starred as Rudy in the film. He's best-known for starring in the "Lord of the Rings" films.
