Kokomo man faces child pornography charges

Kokomo, Feb. 3 - George Budd appeared in federal court Thursday morning facing federal charges involving child pornography.

Budd is a tenant of Angel Ones. "He was a loner. He never had any men, women or girls come to his apartment, nothing."

Budd rents her downstairs unit on South Buckeye Street in Kokomo. Investigators searched his apartment.

Kokomo Police officers and US marshals uncovered child pornography at the home.

Assistant US Attorney Steve Debora explained they caught Budd "as a result for a letter he sent to an inmate in federal prison serving a life sentence for rape."

The US attorney filed federal charges against Budd. He faces one count of receiving child porn and two counts of possession of child porn.

But what Lt. Donald Whitehead found in a letter he wrote to an inmate is even more disturbing. "We found several images of child porn, letters, notes and things like that."

In a federal criminal complaint obtained by Channel 13, Budd wrote a letter to an inmate discussing various topics, including photographs of nude boys and girls, the murder of a female mail carrier, disposing of bodies.

Kokomo detectives say Budd moved his mailbox inside to lure his mail carrier in from the street. That will lead to stalking charges from Kokomo Police.

Ones says that carrier "has been on this route for years. Yesterday I called the post office again."

The same criminal complaint also mentions a second envelope found in Bud's home. It too contained pornographic photographs. Detectives now want to know if Budd had contact with anyone in his neighborhood.

Amanda Canvas calls it "scary. I am scared for my kids. I am a young person myself. He needs help."

Lt. Whitehead wants to hear from people who may have had contact with Budd.
