West Lafayette - A Purdue University professor has teamed up with a demolition industry expert to write a book detailing the finer points of knocking down buildings.
Mark Shaurette says the book is intended to teach college students and professionals all about the demolition process. The assistant professor of building construction management penned it with demolition industry veteran Richard Diven.
Shaurette says the book is needed because the U.S. is "a country of structures that are aging" and will eventually need to be demolished.
The National Demolition Association says "Demolition: Practices, Technology, and Management" is the first textbook of its kind in the U.S. It will be available from the Purdue University Press in late August.
