Hamilton County - A teenager is dead following a crash in northwestern Hamilton County Monday. Police say another teenager was driving at around 100 mph at the time of the crash.
Police say Aaron Scaggs, 16, of Sheridan, died after being ejected from the car. He had head and internal injuries. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
It happened at 276th Street and Lamong Road at around 1:25 pm. Two other teens were injured in the crash. They were taken to Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say Francheska M. Smith, 17, was driving the 2003 Pontaic Grand Prix northbound on Lamong Road when she lost control. Police believe the car left the west side of the roadway, hit the ditch and then went into a cornfield, rolling at least once.
Smith was taken to Methodist Hospital with head and facial injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. A male passenger, Larry E. Hawkins Jr., 17, also of Sheridan, was also taken to Methodist with head injuries and minor bleeding. Hawkins was also belted in. Scaggs was ejected and died at the scene.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Crash Team is investigating the crash.
