Indianapolis - The Indiana Pacers say their number one goal is to keep the franchise in place.
The team says owner Herb Simon has lost millions of dollars since buying the Pacers 30 years ago. The Pacers now want the city to take over the operating costs of Conseco Fieldhouse, but the team president says Herb Simon is not issuing an ultimatum.
"Herb is consumed with the notion of how does this franchise stay in Indianapolis forever. It would be the worst thing ever for him to think about this franchise going anywhere else. He wouldn't give it a thought and the objective is to make this economically viable for whoever owns the franchise going forward," said Jim Morris, Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
