Police look for suspect in Benton County killing

Updated:

Otterbein, Ind. - An arrest warrant has been issued for a man suspected of fatally shooting a 40-year-old woman on a Benton County road.

Indiana State Police said Saturday the county prosecutor requested the warrant for felony murder against Steven R. Farrell.

Authorities say the suspect killed Christine Craig about 2 p.m. Friday while the West Lafayette woman was sitting in the passenger side of her car.

Police say Craig pulled the car alongside the suspect's pickup truck, got out and exchanged words with him.

Police say Craig got back in her car and was sitting in the passenger seat when the suspect walked over and shot her.

They say a relative drove Craig to a gas station in Otterbein, where she died.
