Boone County - A 77-year-old man was found dead in a pond Monday evening.
Police say Howard Davis had been fishing in the pond on his property northwest of Thorntown. Davis apparently fell out of his chair on the bank of the pond.
His wife, Sylvia, found him lying face down in the pond when she went to check on him after he did not return from his fishing trip. Family members say Davis had been in declining health lately, but investigators are unsure if he had a medical issue at the time of the incident.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
