Indianapolis - Two early morning robbers surprised two downtown donut shop workers Friday morning, ordering them into a room and telling them to strip.
The brazen robbery happened at the Dunkin' Donuts at Washington and Pennsylvania Streets, just blocks away from Metro Police headquarters.
The two employees prepared to open the donut shop as usual this morning, but two gunmen left with the donut shop money and some of their clothes.
"To have a gun, attack you and take your money. That's scary," said Abdulrhman Saja. He can't believe two men robbed his favorite donut shop.
As the two employees prepared to open early Friday morning, two gunmen forced through the locked doors. Police call it a bold crime.
"With it being early in the morning and not a lot of people out, they followed them straight into the business," said Officer Shelly Higdon, IMPD spokesperson.
Dunkin' Donuts is on the normally busy corner of East Washington and Pennsylvania Streets. The two gunmen came in wearing all black - masks, clothes and hooded coats. They ordered the two employees to the basement and then ordered them to strip.
"They got inside, robbed them of money, forced them into the backroom, had them remove their pants and then they fled on foot," said Higdon.
Security cameras inside the donut shop recorded the robbery, but police say it may not be enough to lead them to the suspects.
That's another reason they hope someone outside Dunkin' Donuts can help. Police believe the robbers took the employees' pants as part of their getaway to keep them from following them.
"Because he doesn't have pants, he is not going to go out. It's a good idea but a bad idea at the same time," said Saja.
Dunkin' Donuts still opened for business Friday morning.
