H1N1 flu activity appears to be slowing

Posted: Updated:

Indianapolis - State health officials say six flu-related deaths this week bring the total since June 1st to 30 in Indiana. Of those, 28 were confirmed H1N1 cases.

Officials say fewer people are being hospitalized with flu-like symptoms, however. The highest rate was 12.7 percent; now the hospitalization rate is down to six percent, compared to seven percent last week.

So far, the state has received 890,300 H1N1 vaccine doses.

Thanksgiving travel could lead to an increase in illness. The health department says sick people should avoid travel and everyone should get the vaccine as soon as it becomes available.
