South Bend - Officials are trying to determine why a 24-year-old South Bend man facing a rape charge never served a two-year prison sentence in another case.
St. Joseph County court records show Anthony J. Frick was ordered in January 2008 to spend two years in the state prison system and two years in community corrections in a forgery case. That would have put him under state supervision until at least 2010.
Frick instead was sent to a local work release center and discharged about five months later. He now faces charges of assaulting a 67-year-old woman in October.
A judge put Frick's request for a lower bond on hold Tuesday until his previous sentence was sorted out.
Defense attorney Philip Skodinski said he needed to research what had happened.
