Hawaiian Airlines pilots say talks at an impasse

Posted: Updated:

HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaiian Airlines pilots have announced they believe their contract negotiations with the company have reached an impasse.

The pilots union, the Air Line Pilots Association International, said Monday that it has asked the federal government to release its members from mediation.

The union says the process could start the clock for a future strike by Hawaiian's 400 pilots.

Hawaiian responded that the union's request was "nothing more than posturing." The airline says it remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with the its pilots.

Last month, Hawaiian's pilots voted to authorize a strike, if contract talks didn't result in a new collective bargaining agreement.
