One injured in Henry County trailer explosion

Posted: Updated:

Middletown - A man is being treated for first and second degree burns after his travel trailer exploded on 10th Street in Middletown Monday morning.

The man told fire investigators that he was trying to light the stove when it blew up. Investigators believe a build-up of gas in the stove may have caused the explosion.

The trailer was destroyed, but the man was actually walking around when emergency workers arrived.

"The gentleman is a very lucky gentleman that he was able to walk away from something like that. We got debris at 20 to 30 yards and these are complete walls that have been blown off the side of the trailer," said David Scarrette, New Castle fire lead investigator.

The travel trailer was brand new with temporary tags still attached.
