Meeting on ash borer slated for Blackford County

Updated:
Hartford City, Ind. - The state Department of Natural Resources will hold public meetings Tuesday in northeastern Indiana to discuss the presence of the tree-killing emerald ash borer beetle.

The DNR will address symptoms associated with the beetle infestations, control measures and quarantine regulations on all hardwood firewood, ash nursery stock and ash wood products and debris.

The meetings will be at 3 and 6:30 p.m. at the Purdue Extension Office in Hartford City.
The beetles have been found in at least 24 Indiana counties.

Large infestations of the insect have killed millions of ash trees in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana since 2002.
