Police investigate apparent beating death in Warren Co.

Williamsport - Police are investigating the death of a man in Warren County Saturday afternoon.

Chad Wamsley, 26 of Williamsport died from injuries sustained in an altercation with 27-year-old James Clayton Gaskill of Attica. Police say Gaskill confronted Wamsley at 526 North Street and began beating him until fell to the ground. Gaskill then continued to beat Wamsley until he was unconscious.

Bystanders called 911 and started CPR on Wamsley, who was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he later passed away.

Police arrested Gaskill on a preliminary felony charge of involuntary manslaughter. An autopsy will be conducted on Wamsley early next week as police cointinue their investigation.
