Public child welfare hearings start Friday

Updated:

Indianapolis - Hearings Friday in Bloomington and Muncie will be the first of 18 across the state over the next several weeks as the Indiana Department of Child Services gathers public input on providing regional services to abused, neglected and delinquent children and those on probation.

The hearings will be held at 11 a.m. in Bloomington and 2:30 p.m. in Muncie. Both hearings will be held at the local DCS offices.

DCS will use the public comments to create new program budgets and draft contracts for prospective services providers. It also will use it in its next budget request to the General Assembly late next year.

Other hearings are set for Sept. 18 in Jasper and Sept. 23 in Terre Haute.
