Michigan City - Severe thunderstorms forced police to suspend the search for two escapees from the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.

On Thursday, searchers spotted who they believed to be convicted rapist Lance Battreal in a wooded area, but he managed to elude capture.

Battreal, along with convicted murderer Mark Booher, are still on the loose after escaping last weekend.

Police captured a third man, Charles Smith, days after the break-out.

All three inmates escaped through a tunnel where they were working last Sunday. Three guards have been suspended pending the outcome of Department of Corrections investigation.

The reward has been increased to $6,000 for information leading to the capture of the convicts.
