Fort Wayne - A northern Indiana prosecutor says a police officer was justified in the fatal shooting of a bank robbery suspect who authorities say pulled a replica handgun on officers.
Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards said Wednesday that no charges would be filed against Fort Wayne Patrolman Peter Mooney.
Police say Mooney shot 37-year-old Anthony Taylor of Bluffton three times on Jan. 14 after he had turned toward officers while holding what they thought was a pistol.
Taylor was suspected of robbing a bank in Avilla, about 20 miles north of Fort Wayne, and officers found him inside a taxi at a gas station on Fort Wayne's east side several hours later.
Police say Taylor ran from the taxi, ignoring orders to stop and drop his weapon.
